About John Niva

John was born in 1966 in Kenya and, as a child, lived across the road from the Nairobi National Park where, from an early age, he fell in love with nature and wildlife.

He now has three children of his own and resides with his family in Nairobi.

John is a member of the Kenya Professional Safari Guide Association, set up to ensure an excellent standard of guiding, and an active member of the East African Wildlife Society, at the forefront of efforts to protect endangered, rare or threatened species and habitats and helping community based organisations in the field of conservation in East Africa.

He studied Tourism and Foreign Languages, joining Abercrombie & Kent in late 1989 to become one of the youngest guides in the industry and has traveled extensively, all over the world, spreading his love for Africa and its wildlife.

With over 20 years of safari experience and in-depth knowledge of African culture, wildlife, conservation and plant life, John's passion and love for bespoke eco friendly safaris is infectious.

John also works with, and supports, deprived children in various parts of the country, especially in the field of sports & education. He raises funds for school equipment and helps with the building projects.
